Open-ended Theme-based Projects — Grade 4 to 6
This workshop has two portion - sound mechanical structure and computer programming for automation.
Another portion of this workshop will focus on mechanical functions used to build
a sound structure. You will be introduced to important mechanical tips in creating robust
structures through the context of a robotic mechanical RoboDog. Come to learn
how to create strong yet elegant mechanisms with the Technic system.
Instructions are not doled out in spoon-feeding style, but in a way that
stimulates understanding, thinking outside the box, and creating your own
You'll gain conceptual-level insight into mechanical principles like torque,
power translation, and gear ratios, etc. with technic components. To finalize
the week, you will build a mechanical RoboDog and motorize it.
And this is really cool: You will be able to take the mechanical RoboDog home!
Another portion of the workshop focuses on computer programming for automation.
You will build an amusement park filled with various activities automated by
computer programs that you write. Activities may include Merry-go-round,
Ghost Ride, Crazy Tour Bus, and Bumper Car. The complexity is only limited
to what you can do.
Those up to the challenge will have the opportunity to
learn about complex programming with sensors. You will be amazed what you can
accomplish under our proven effective curriculum, and with help from our
technically knowledgeable instructors.
