Goals:
- to engage young people in science and engineering,
- to inspire young people to create and build and invent,
- to encourage critical thinking as a way of life,
- build generation of love in science and engineering.
Our
roboclub continues growing. In the school year of
2009-2010, we have over 80 members (vs. 60 in the 2008-2009 school
year).
Due to limited space and conflicting schedule with many parents, we decide to create an online RoboeXpo
video presentation this year instead of a separate offsite RoboeXpo event.
The last class of 2010 Spring term is on Sunday, June 20th. Students will be working on the presentation
video during that weekend. It is highly recommended that they not be absent, as most projects involve
a group of at least two people. Students will be videotaping their presentation on the last day of class.
This is the video that will be a part of the RoboeXpo online presentation. Any videos made at a makeup
session will not be a part of the collective presentations, although it will be posted for students to view.
If you think your child will be absent, please write to me at emabrey@stormingrobots.com as soon as possible.
Our target publishing date will be sometime in early July. All parents will receive an email notification.
The online RoboeXpo event will be posted at expo.stormingrobots.com, as well as our new site, www.robochannel.com.
Past Events:
June 21st of 2009.
Over 40 projects were presented.
Event was held at the Cedar Hill Preparatory School located in Somerset.
Although we have a lot more people attended than 2008, this event has
turned out to be much more successful. We had more than twice as
many as projects presented, thus there were a lot more visitors than 2008's event. However, we
managed to control the traffic and turned out to be much smoothier than last year event.
In addition, members had a Sumo Challenge Game at the end. It was
awesome!
Projects range from a simple 4-legged giraffe, to a sophisticated
Geo-Caching robot.
June 21st of 2008
Our first annual Robotic Expo Event.
Over 20 projects were being presented.
Event was held at the Cedar Hill Preparatory School located in Somerset.
We had a lot more people attended this event than we have anticipated.
Therefore, it was a bit hectic. However, our roboclub students were
thrilled to show off their work, as well as got to see what the older students have accomplished.
Truly inspiring!
